Today we started Chapter 8. This chapter will be new to all of you. It explores linear functions. We will be graphing equations with slope and y-intercept, writing rules, and more. Today we learned about relations and if they were functions or not.

Today's less on was called Transforming Formulas. In the lesson we learned how to solve formulas for a specific variable. One example would be as follows...
Using the the formula for area of a rectangle, A = lh, solve for h.
Tomorrow there is a quiz on 7-5 to 7-7 (solving equations, inequalities, and transforming formulas)
HW~ 7-7 worksheet & Checkpoint Quiz p. 385

Happy Valentine's Day! Today's lesson focused on writing equations from story problems. Many times we just take the numbers and multiply, divide, add or subtract them to get an answer, not always knowing if that answer is right. If students take the time to write an equation that represents that situation and then solve the equation, they are more likely to have a correct answer. There is a quiz tomorrow covering 7-1 to 7-4.
HW~#1-11 (odds) p.368 & Checkpoint Quiz p. 369 & study for quiz!!

Today we worked on solving equations involving the distributive property. Before solving these types of equations, you either have to add like terms or distribute to get rid of the parentheses. After doing this, solving is the same as what we have been doing. We also talked about consecutive integers, which are numbers that are in a row, for example 23, 24, 25 are consecutive integers.
